Pointing to Obama for the Terrorist Plight on Christmas Day-- Really??!

On Christmas day, Nigerian terror suspect Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab attempted to blow up passengers on a flight from New Zealand to Detroit but it failed, according to articles and reports, only sent sparks flying in the air and burning himself. Passengers on the plane were reportedly terrified and quickly worked to ensure the terrorist did nothing further.

The problem with this situation is that the father of the terror suspect went to the U.S. Embassy and alerted them about his son's radicalism and how he felt he is a threat to the United States. This information was sent to the CIA in Virginia but no one took action on the documents. The passenger was able to board the plane headed for the US loaded with bomb materials stuffed in his underwear with the intention of another airplane strike.

Since the event, every time I turn on the television, republicans, news anchors, and others are quickly pointing the finger to Obama and his administration saying they are not doing anything in the war against terror. This absolutely upsets me because instead of working with the President, they are so eager to work against him. When will people realize that we are all human in this world, no matter what political party we choose to represent. This war will not be one by one party alone, but it is going to a collaboration. I am sick and tired of this bickering and finger pointing. Obama is not responsible for everything in this world, he did not create all of this drama; however, if we want to properly address the issues, we must first clear up the issues we have in our own home, the issues of racism, separation of state and church, the wealthy vs the poor, and other issues we have let separate us in such a cold-hearted world.

To My African-Americans... I Pray

To my African-Americans...... I pray

In a world where time moves at the speed of light, where rules are not right and nothing will ever surprise the eyesite.

I pray.

In a place where people have lost respect for each other, when a son will kill his own mother, where family has lost its meaning and eating together is a joke...... I wonder to myself, is there any hope?

I pray.

Ashamed to be Black and too small-minded to see it, steadily creating negative images and upset when others try and be it. Yelling at the media for depicting us in so many stereotypical ways, but of all the Black films you have seen, how many showed us paving the way?

I pray.

We have to take a stance first and show them we have respect, we have got to quit being sellouts for our race versus a paycheck.

We have got to walk the walk and quit all this talking, we have got to find a way to get back together. If we hold our hands up high, we can get past all this bad weather.

To my African-Americans.... I pray ( Romaro Spivey 2007)

Live Your Life: Why is So Hard to Focus on Self?

Why is it so hard for people to live their life without worrying about the life of the next man?
Why is it so hard to focus on the shortcomings that you are facing rather than the mistakes you see in someone else?
What makes us so concerned with how the next guy is getting by that we fail to focus on we will survive ourselves?

I came up with these questions after reading several blogs across the website and people seem to have nothing but time on their hands; time that they use to make negative and irrelevant comments about people, particularly celebrities, who are making a career out of their lives and moving forward and not backwards. Just to pick one for my example, let me choose Beyonce Knowles. So many Black Women post some of the most cruelest and foulest comments about Beyonce Knowles. I applaud Beyonce for her accomplishments thus far. If I could rake in 80,000,000 in a year, I don’t know what I would do! She has shown us that if you dream it, you can achieve it, if you work hard it, there is a possibility that you can get it. Her possibilities right now are endless! I wish I had parents who would have molded me and guided me into a career that I myself was fond of as a child. I think a lot of us miss that. Its not that they say, Hey, you are going to be a superstar, but THEY (parents) took interest in her talent and ability at a young age. We all know, there is a possibility of a great outcome when you invest in something. Normally if you put a lot into something, you get much more out of it; however, if you don’t put anything into it, then the end result will be nothing.

Now let me clear something up, I am not saying that you should take a child and MAKE them something you want to be, but rather, spend time with your child, explore their abilities, see what drives them, and if you believe it as much as they do, invest in it. Mr. Knowles quit a six figure job because he BELIEVED in his daughter and that one day, she would be a superstar, and low and behold, here we have Beyonce Knowles. Wow, talk about stepping out on faith the size of a mustard seed.

Why is it so hard for our own people to applaud others of our own kind who are doing pretty good for themselves rather than degrade, despise, and make negative remarks about. No one is perfect and no one ever will be, there should be at time in your life when you realize, I need to focus on me and how can I get to the mountain top.
